Arkansas Valley Adventures - Whitewater Rafting - We offer whitewater rafting on five different central Colorado rivers with all different ability levels from flat water scenic floats to heart pumping class V.

These picturesque twin peaks actually make up one mountain and reside in the White River National Forest – a part of the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness, one of the five areas in Colorado designated wilderness in the original Wilderness Act of 1964.  From exhilarating valleys to high peaks and passes, and high alpine lakes, the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness is an area full of hidden treasures.

Maroon Bells provides a view that is breathtaking, with a clear lake reflecting the jagged snow-covered peaks.  In July, the meadows are filled with wildflowers of every hue, hummingbirds and butterflies flit about and the warm sun makes hiking the trails an easy task.  In the fall, the numerous aspen groves turn golden, further intensifying the scene.  There are numerous hiking trails in the vicinity for all abilities.  The Scenic Loop Trail has become a favorite among most.  The trail wraps around the lake and is an easy 2.2 mile hike round trip.

Hiking or climbing these peaks of 14,000 feet plus is a popular activity.  Those seeking to summit peaks safely should have proper equipment as the routes are mostly steep and maneuvering up the loose rock requires technical skills.

The parking is very limited at the Visitors' Center.  Daytime access is restricted to bus transportation from Aspen highlands located in downtown Aspen.  The bus costs six dollars per person and includes a guided tour of the points of interest along the way.  The small Visitors' Center has some exhibits on the flora and fauna of the area, as well as restrooms and a water fountain.  There are no concessions or bottled water for sale at the center, so be prepared and bring your own water to avoid dehydration in the dry high altitude.
