Rated as the easiest of Aspen's four mountains, Buttermilk Mountain is essentially Aspen-lite. This mountain is the perfect environment for either beginners or those who want to take it easy. Trails are mostly suitable for novices and intermediates, and the mountain is groomed every night so that every skier is helped as much as possible by the time they get on the slopes the next morning.
For families, Buttermilk is an excellent mountain to drop off the kids while you ski one of Aspen's other mountains.
Buttermilk is also well-loved by carving snowboarders. Snowboarding is available throughout the area with one halfpipe, Superpipe and two terrain parks with hits and rails. A sound system near Superpipe has been installed for the ultimate rocking experience. Lessons are available for all levels.
There are restaurants here to assuage your hunger and thirst, rental shops, and a total of 112 beds located at the base of Buttermilk Mountain. Another 14,000 are located within a ten mile radius.
So if you're flying in, as you disembark onto the tarmac, feel the cool crisp air rushing beneath your jacket. It's a reminder of the reasons Colorado has such legendary skiing: high altitudes, cold temperatures and a palette of steep mountains on which to ski.
