Everyone, whether individuals, families, or other groups visiting Aspen will be introduced to this excellent sport. Don't worry, if you are an angler who is already "hooked", you'll improve your skills at Aspen.
A spectrum of flyfishing options for enthusiasts of all abilities at Aspen include:
RIVER WADING TRIPS
There are river wading trips – something that has historically been the most popular way to experience flyfishing in the Roaring Fork Valley. Scenic locations on the Roaring Fork and lower Frying Pan rivers will take your breath away.
Wading trips can be a half-day (4-5 hours), or a full-day (approximately 7 hours) in duration.
LAKE TRIPS
For those who wish to try their luck on some truly trophy-sized trout, there are a number of lakes available on nearby ranches.
FAMILY FISHING
Family fishing is available on particular ranches close to Aspen. All family members can enjoy fishing for eager, 12-20 inch rainbow trout in a safe, shallow farm pond. A picnic blanket in a shady Cottonwood grove, or a short nature walk will provide peaceful entertainment for any non-fishing guests.
GROUP FLYFISHING PROGRAMS
Group packages for business guests can be custom made also. Attention for individuals is not compromised at all here. There are also custom clinic-type programs where groups are first instructed on dry land then brought to the river to fish, and finally re-united to swap "fish stories" at the end of the day.
And you know there'll be some of those!
When you visit Aspen to go flyfishing, there is great flexibility on offer relating to activity start times, numbers of participants, and duration of trips. If you want an intense, wilderness float trip, that can be easily arranged. How about a majestic multi-day float through the breathtaking Gunnison Gorge. It'll be a trip to be remembered for a lifetime – guaranteed. All of the floats are designed to move at your pace, and can be geared towards a more leisurely drift, or a full-on flyfishing pursuit.
