Glenwood Canyon & Trail
Carved by the mighty Colorado River, Glenwood Canyon stretches 16 miles bearing steep cliffs on both sides of the river. Glenwood Canyon is significant because it is considered one of the most scenic sections or roadway in the United Sates, as well as one of the most difficult to build. Interstate 70 meanders through the canyon and is one of the last sections of interstate to be built, connecting the towns of Glenwood Springs and Gypsum.

Also along the river and paralleling I-70, is the Glenwood Canyon Trail, an 18 mile-long paved trail used by bikers, hikers, fisherman, skaters, and walkers from spring through fall. The trail stretches from Dotsero to the east, and Glenwood Springs to the west, and is heavily used by locals and visitors alike. Many users take advantage of the trail's access to prime fishing spots and secluded picnicking areas.
While hiking or biking down the trail, you'll be in prime position to watch river rafters and kayakers, and be treated to majestic views of the canyon walls the entire way. Also keep you eye out for wildlife such as water fowl, deer, elk, and if you're lucky, bighorn sheep.
