About fifty percent of Snowmass' 3,100 acres of terrain is marked intermediate. Skiers and snowboarders will find a variety of runs from wide groomed cruisers to mogul fields to off piste challenging bowls. Chairlifts, 21 to be exact, are placed evenly and conveniently around the ski resort. Snowmass ski resort has three main terrain parks, a superpipe and a rail yard . . . plenty to keep the young and extreme busy. With over 4,000 feet of vertical drop and around 300 inches of annual snowfall it's no wonder why Snowmass has become such a skiing and snowboarding mecca. Many visitors also enjoy the amount of sunshine the mountain receives throughout the winter months.
Lodging, food, shopping, and lift tickets are relatively expensive at Snowmass ski resort. The quality of service and hospitality seem to make up for this quickly. About 95% of the lodging in Snowmass village is on the ski hill with ski in, ski out access. You won't go hungry with over 20 restaurants with a variety of cuisines. There are also a handful of bars and other nighttime musts in the village.
Skiing isn't all that Snowmass has to offer in the winter. These following activities are not to be missed. Sign up for first tracks and experience early morning powder turns with some of the mountain staff. Cross-country skiers can access over 80 km of trails near Snowmass. Enjoy free guided nature tours by ski or snowboard offered a couple times a day. The groomers also offer free snowcat rides as they do their daily grooms. Guided snowshoeing adventures can be a great way to see Colorado's natural winter life. Snowmass also has its very own NASTAR course, indoor paintball arena, and tube town, a great afternoon activity for kids.
