However, if your final destination is Aspen, be aware that Amtrak does not stop there. The closest Amtrak depot to Aspen is located 40 miles away in Glenwood Springs. To get to Aspen from Glenwood Springs, you’ll need to take public transportation, hire a taxi or rent a car.

Rates

Of course, rates vary per distance traveled. For example, from Denver to Glenwood Springs the cost is $49, from Salt Lake City the fare is $53 and from Chicago it’s $186.

A rail pass might be a good way to travel if you are going to be visiting more than one destination. All the information is available on the Amtrak website. You can purchase these passes for different travel durations and travel segments.

The Glenwood Springs, Colorado train (the California Zephyr) arrives in Glenwood Springs at 1:53 pm if coming from the east (Chicago, Omaha, etc.) and at 12:50 pm if coming from the west (San Francisco, Salt Lake City, etc.).
