Mountain Information
Aspen Mountain is the heart and soul of Aspen. The mountain rises above the town majestically - it's no wonder the locals affectionately call it Ajax. Known as the playpen of the rich and famous, Aspen Mountain offers the visitor excellent skiing.
Offering an assortment of the region's best bumps, jumps, and steeps, as well as Snowcat skiing, Aspen Mountain is the number one destination for skiers visiting the region from across the globe. No other mountain in the country offers this level of world class skiing. However, keep in mind that Aspen Mountain is not for beginners. The easiest slopes on the mountain are designed for intermediate skiers.
Most skiers start off at Little Nell Hill. Located just steps from downtown, if you arrive here first it's easy to head over to the summit by taking the Silver Queen Gondola. Get ready for a challenge, as the skiing here offers difficult runs, steep pistes, and tough moguls with connectors linking the whole thing together into a maze that will get your heart pumping in no time.
Aspen Mountain has 673 skiable acres and a vertical drop of more than three thousand feet. 30% of the runs have been designated as "expert." If you're an experienced skier this is definitely the place to visit on your next ski vacation.
But don't forget to relax while you're here. Take a quiet walk through Aspen town when you need a break from skiing. You may even bump into a celebrity or two as you browse the high-end stores and boutiques. Of course, all this luxury comes with an expensive price tag. Although the facilities are top notch and the skiing is amazing, it does come at a price. If you can afford it, Aspen Mountain makes a great winter vacation.
