Mountain Information
Aspen Mountain IS Aspen. Rising above town, the mountain – which the locals call Ajax - is often known as the playpen of the rich and famous, and for good reason. But it does feature some truly excellent skiing.

Aspen Mountain has some of the region's best bumps, jumps, and steeps, along with Snowcat skiing on the backside of the mountain. Believe it, you will not have an experience like this on any other mountain in the nation! Unfortunately, Aspen Mountain is not for beginners. The skill level is higher than this and beginners are strongly advised to go elsewhere. The easiest slopes on Aspen Mountain are for intermediates.
Aspen Mountain is not for beginners.
So, all you intermediates and above, are you up for the challenge? You'd better be because Aspen Mountain is winter-white heaven. A skiers paradise.
Aspen Mountain is winter-white heaven.
Most skiers congregate at Little Nell Hill, just steps from downtown, and then make their way to the summit via the Silver Queen Gondola. This is old-school-style skiing: punishing runs, steep pistes, and dense moguls with connectors linking the whole thing together into a leg-straining maze.
Punishing runs, steep pistes, and dense moguls – it's all here!
With 673 skiable acres, a vertical drop of more than three thousand feet, and 30 per cent designated expert runs, Aspen Mountain can handle anything you toss at it. At the end of each day you will be exhilarated, deliciously weary, and panting for more.
While gearing up for the next intense skiing day, stroll through Aspen town. And don't be surprised if you bump into a movie personality as you peruse the high-end shops and boutiques. Of course one rather obvious fact about Aspen and Aspen Mountain is that that they are not inexpensive. The facilities are world class, the skiing is top notch, but be sure to bring a thick wallet!
