Overview

When Aspen residents aren't recreating in the mountains and rivers of the Roaring Fork Valley, they're often playing and exercising in the Aspen Recreation Center.

The ARC sits along Aspen's extensive trail network, which means miles of cross-country skiing during winter and biking and walking trails in the summer are just outside the door. Inside, the rec center has a pool for swimming laps or just splashing in the water, a hot tub, a two-story slide, a lazy river, a sauna and a steam room. Visitors can learn to skate or play some pick-up hockey on the NHL-sized indoor ice rink. Or test their forearms on the 32-foot-high climbing tower.

With a weight room, fitness room, lounge, batting cages and more, the ARC is a popular spot on a raining day and a good option for those who want a more structured workout.
