The Aspen Filmfest is a great way to gain exposure to some of the best films the world has to offer. The best part is that you get access to movies not normally seen in theaters. If you're a film buff, or simply want to take in a good flick while visiting Aspen in the fall, don't forget to come by the Aspen Filmfest and enjoy the shows.
Although an event mainly for independent productions, the Aspen Filmfest has honored directors in the past that are fairly well-known. The annual Independent by Nature Award has honored such directors as Sydney Pollack and Bob Rafelson. Some big actors have also received awards at the event, including Anjelica Huston, Harrison Ford and William H. Macy.
In 2008 the Filmfest took place between September 24-28. If you visit Aspen next year in September, you may get to hobnob with the stars!
