There are always a few surprises. Winterskol dates back to a quiet January in 1951 when local Aspenites decided to celebrate Aspen's unique Nordic lifestyle with an eclectic weekend of festivities - mostly floorshows at local taverns.
As Aspen has grown and evolved into a world-class resort, Winterskol has matured into an elaborate, well-organized event with major corporate sponsors and international talent. But the celebration retains its purpose as a week of fun in the snow for residents and visitors.
