The options for Aspen, Colorado transportation are wide open. You can drive, fly in, rent a car or take a train or shuttle. Getting to your Rocky Mountain destination just takes a bit of planning.

Driving

If coming to Aspen from Denver, Colorado, you take I-70 West to the exit for Glenwood Springs, and head east on Colorado Highway 82.

If coming from the west and Grand Junction, take I-70 East to Glenwood Springs exit and take Colorado Highway 82 right into Aspen.

Flying

Aspen/Pitkin (Sardy Field) is situated three miles northwest of Aspen. Airlines serving this airport are Delta Connection, Frontier Airlines and United Express.

Vail / Eagle Airport is 70 miles from Aspen off of I-70. Airlines serving Eagle Regional Airport are American, Continental, Delta and United Airlines.

Walker Field/Grand Junction Airport is 128 miles distant, and the airlines serving Walker Field are Allegiant, American, Delta United Express and US Airways.

Denver International Airport is 183 miles east of Aspen. This large airport is served by many airlines with connecting cities all over the world.

Train

The Amtrak system serves the area from Chicago to San Francisco, with the California Zephyr. The stop you want is the one for Glenwood Springs, Colorado. You can take a bus or rent a car from this point to get to Aspen.

Car Rentals

Car rentals are available at any of the airports you may fly into for your Aspen visit. It’s a good idea to rent a car because that way you have some freedom of motion to go anywhere you want to at any time within the Rocky Mountain area.

The Roaring Fork Transit Authority offers free bus services around Aspen. For a reasonable fare you can also get to surrounding towns such as Basalt, Carbondale and Glenwood Springs.

Airport Shuttle
From the Aspen/Pitkin County Airport, you can get a free shuttle into town.

Free Skier Shuttle
Skiers love the convenience of the free skier shuttle. It takes you to any of the four ski areas - Snowmass, Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk.

Snowmass Village Shuttle
Within Snowmass, you can have the services of another free shuttle to get around town.
